Five Wedding Trends to Look Out for This Year

Planning a wedding can be a load of hassle and if you’re on trend and want to make sure you have the insta-fabulous wedding then keep reading. I’ve trawled through a gazillion wedding pages to deliver the top five wedding trends to include in your wedding celebrations for 2019.

#1 Flowers

Following on from last year’s floral trend, brides/grooms to be are carrying on with an eco-friendly approach including growing their own succulents before the wedding to give as favours, growing wildflowers in their gardens for bouquets and opting for foam-free flowers.

Another alternative I have seen cropping up are balloon arches instead of floral ones. Photo-worthy but make sure to choose biodegradable balloons!

#2 Breaking Tradition

More and more couples are choosing an alternative to traditional wedding vows. For some they find it outdated, others because of religious beliefs, there are many different reasons. A great alternative is having a Celebrant instead who will get to know you and your partner’s unique story and make it that much more personal. Stewart O’Sullivan is a registered Celebrant who goes that one bit extra to deliver you a wonderful ceremony that matters to you.

Other traditions that are being thrown to the wind are bridal parties, instead brides opting for one or two close friends or family. Best man/woman and women choosing to make a speech instead of traditionally just the men.

#3 Food

Gone are the sit-down formal wedding breakfasts and in are the buffet spreads, food platters and grazing boards.

A more relaxed food setting makes for a more relaxed day, providing a buffet with a range of delicious items can help cater for anyone with dietary requirements and they look great too! Local to Brighton, Wendy from Nourish Catering is our top recommendation, she caters for any type of event with amazingly tasty, healthy food.

#4 Attire

Minimalist dresses are on trend thanks to Meghan Markle’s royal wedding appearance. Brides are opting for simple designs with full-length skirts and long sleeves. Grooms are favouring a three-piece suit.  For the groomsmen and bridesmaids, rather than forking out a fortune for the same outfit for everyone, a nice touch we read recently was a bride simply choosing a colour and letting her bridesmaids pick an item suited to them, giving them more freedom and requested the groomsmen in matching ties.

#5 Entertainment

Entertainment for your wedding is a must and modern happy couples are always thinking of innovative and quirky additions to help their wedding stand out and give their guests a fantastic time. Look into hiring in a cocktail bar, the guys over at Bug Bar serve drinks/cocktails from a cool and unique converted VW camper, which then transforms into a DJ Booth for the evening party, what’s not to love?

Music – the big one (in our eyes at least) sure, you could go for a traditional wedding band or you could blow your guests away and show them your sick skills behind the decks! Of course, I am biased but after countless feedback and the fact, we are unlike any other DJ service at Stick It On.  We get everyone involved in the party celebrations and it’s the perfect icebreaker if you have a large mix of guests.

What trends will you be jumping onboard with or dodging completely?

I hope you found the above useful with planning your big day.
